In 1990 she asked her husband, Satish, to help her expand to Edison, New Jersey, a small suburb of Manhattan that had relatively few Indian immigrants at the time. Over 9000 lives perished and more than 125,000 were gravely injured. IMMUSA Chairman, Satish Mehtani and a few volunteers flew into Nepal during that time with food and medical supplies and immediately began emergency relief operation by reaching out to the victims. In 1991, Mr. Mehtani provided humanitarian disaster relief on a major scale in Kuwait, earning the praise of the Kuwaiti royal family. Following September 11th, his staff made 10,000 meals for rescue workers and set up the food distribution on the site.
